Summary
Over the years I have realized that we have to accept and treat patients irrespective of caste, community, creed, nationality, religion, region, status, sex etc., in other words, . But I have always asked myself: are we to accept and treat patients who enter our clinics (if making a living is secondary)? Can we not select our patients? I realized we do have a right to choose a patient in very much the same measure as the patient has the right to choose her homoeopath! But having exercised this right we are duty bound to stay with the patient until she gets well or decides to leave us. If you also believe that: , and that: than this article may appeal to you. All the beautiful cures in our consulting rooms are only possible because the patient had a strong will to get well.

Summary
A 40-year-old patient who had suffered from abdominal pain since childhood was treated with several remedies since 1998, but no improvement held. On retaking her case in February 2005 I finally perceived the simillimum. Looking through the case notes of the preceding seven years this remedy picture was present throughout. I had shown “fidelity in recording” but my bias towards repertorisation had on this occasion caused me to miss the full “image of the disease”. Her complaints were strongly abdominal, and the materia medica has no recorded abdominal symptoms for this remedy. I was only able to arrive at the correct remedy by following Aphorism 83 to the letter and by adopting Rajan Sankaran's method of taking the case - that is, to trust the energy in the patient's chief complaint to lead us to the deep level where mind and body speak the same language.

Summary
This is the case of a man who was so committed to avoiding waste that he would eat leftover meals in public restaurants. He believed that the Earth needed to be cleansed of human beings, and that he should not have to pay taxes. His greatest fear was becoming a normal member of society. After taking the remedy, he did just that.

Sometimes a keynote or a single piece of information opens the case to you. Since this is not the way I usually work, I had to look back over old cases when asked to present this kind of solution. Here I present a case where an occupational disease was the key that solved it.

This is a case of a 35-year-old female suffering for many years from terrible headaches. It is fascinating to see how the theme of her remedy appears in every aspect of her life, from chief complaint to dreams to hobbies. Everywhere we see the same idea. When that happens, we can be most confident of our prescription.

Summary
Osteoporosis is a disease that is rapidly increasing in prevalence owing to a combination of dietary influences, adverse effects of medication and a rapidly aging population. Osteoporosis is placing an increasing strain on the public health purse. Homeopathy is an inexpensive non-pharmacological alternative that may be useful to increase bone density. However, currently there is little evidence-based research on its effects. This pilot study aimed at exploring the effect of medium-potency calcium on the bone density of women over a period of one year. The majority of the women were post-menopausal. The bone density was measured before and after treatment with bone ultrasonometry. Results showed that medium potency calcium caused an increase in the bone density of eleven of the fifteen participants that completed the trial, ten of these post-menopausal. This prescription can be combined safely with allopathic drugs and is cost-effective. It is concluded that this homeopathic dose may be a viable treatment for osteoporosis but future controlled trials are needed to confirm the results.

Summary
Among the most discussed topics in the homeopathic profession are the miasm theories. Often the word miasm is not used or defined correctly. A number of renowned homeopaths have tried to systematize remedies and their miasms in order to use them as a tool to find the similimum. This article is an attempt to put all these theories and concepts into perspective in order to create a forum where there is consensus about definitions and the nature of miasms.

It also demonstrates the way the patient could relate all her feelings with the language of the substance/source.

Summary
This article presents an environmental approach to homeopathic case analysis. Rather than focusing on “nature” based familial classifications, it explores the use of “nurture” based biomes. The Desert is chosen as a representative biome and themes, sensations and energies are explored for this particular biome. A case example of hyperlipidemia is presented using the desert biome classification and the remedy (Saguaro Cactus) was prescribed curatively.

Summary
Two cases are presented with case analysis and repertorisation. The first is a 41-year-old man who is a very serious, hard working and responsible crisis manager with irritable bowel syndrome. He was treated for seven years, initially with Aurum metallicum to which he responded well for four years. His illness completely resolved after Osmium metallicum. The second is an obese 62-year old lady with asthma and depression who feels side-lined but not redundant, treated with Sulphur and then Thallium metallicum.

Summary
This is a case of psychiatric troubles in a healthcare professional who, in spite of a personal psychoanalysis, and although managing to control her troubles in an apparently satisfactory way but at a very high cost, suffered strongly from the chronic intensity of her illness. It shows that the concept of illness is a relative one, whose manifestations and consequences depend partly but crucially on whatever resources that the person can employ to face the illness. Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis may be of great help in the management of severe psychological troubles, but they cannot cure. A well selected homeopathic remedy, with luck sometimes, but especially with an optimal interface between patient and homeopath, can do good work in the realm of psychiatric troubles, not forgetting that a deep illness needs a great deal of time to be cured.

Summary
Treating acute cases is an art. Within a limited time frame with unprejudiced observation and flexibility we use our acute senses to grasp the most important signs and symptoms. In this way we are able to assert whether a remedy is working or not. If not, then we have to decide what was inaccurate in the prescription and why, in order that we can then “fish” the right remedy.
