Irish Homeopaths Serving the Homeopathic Community in Ireland

Activities in Ireland for World Homeopathy Awareness Week ’08

Homeopaths and homeopathy supporters are joining forces this week in recognition of World Homeopathy Awareness Week (10 – 16th April 2008).  This year’s theme is The Benefits of Homeopathy in Sports Medicine.

‘Flu’s and Tummy bugs

‘Flus and Tummy bugs

At the moment there seems to be a variety of ‘flus, coughs and tummy problems making the rounds. Sometimes the three are together and some times separate. What do you look for to select an appropriate remedy that will act homoeopathically?

Stop Gvt. restrictions on vitamin and mineral supplements

The European Union is currently working to set maximum levels for vitamin and mineral supplements on sale in Ireland and throughout the EU. The Irish Government has proposed these should be no higher than RDA levels, i.e. the minimum amount you need to prevent deficiency disease.  In other words, the RDA level of vitamin C, being 60mg a day, is enough to prevent scurvy but this measure is virtually useless for supporting your immune system.  RDA levels are very much lower than amounts needed to support optimal health.

Bach Flower Remedies Course – Sat 14th July, Dublin

I’m running another Introduction to the Bach Flower Remedies and Essences coming up shortly on Saturday 14th of July. It will be in room 8 at Milltown Park in Ranelagh from 10am to 4.30 to 5pm.

The day is a hands-on session of working with the Bach Flowers and attendees should come away with a good overview of Flower Essences and how to use them for yourself and in your practice.

We’re back, after a tech glitch

And with an updated design too. The week before the Conference, the site’s database hiccoughed and threw out the permissions for just anyone to look at the content. This has been fixed now and this site’s CMS, Drupal, upgraded to the latest version.

That’s why we’re sporting a new look, too. With Drupal’s default theme, Minelli.

Exams and your health

May and June are the traditional exam months whether at School or College. After years of study these exams bring about, for example, the completion of childhood and adolescence and or passport to a new stage in life. Whichever, a time of CHANGE. A time of anxiety and even fear at one extreme and elation at the other.

Sometimes one should ask for whom is the problem greatest, student or parent? These dilemmas can stir up deep emotions and it can be these very emotions that can be the motivation to success or disaster.

Take a look at the situation within your family and it may be necessary to consider the preparation as part of a journey; the outcome of the exams may be failure or success but lead to an unexpected change in the planned pathway. Many great scholars, business people and entrepreneurs did not achieve their goals in exams but would agree that this “failure” had been the essential motivation to strive in the new direction.

Sleep or Lack of Sleep

Sleep problems are hitting the tabloids. Not so much the discomfort of the sufferer particularly an infant but the attendant parents who need to present themselves at the workstation the following morning too tired to make profitable decisions.

We all need sleep and to lose too much especially when under any “stress” is not conducive to healthy living. “Stress” need only a build up of fatigue after long demanding hours at the office, a commitment to a sick relative or nursing a baby that won’t sleep.

Babies and infants will give Parents many sleepless nights at a time when it is important to work  to pay the bills. There are many causes:- Hunger, thirst, digestive problems,  uncomfortable body temperatures, emotions and even nightmares, even over excitement. Each one  has its own particular cry and Parents should try to learn to recognise those of their child to be able to respond accordingly. This is the earliest form of oral communications and the Parental responses  could determine future emotional development and reactions to irrational fears.

Galway Mayor gives his support to Homeopathy Awareness Week

The following is a press release from the Galway College of Homeopathy

Last Wednesday evening over 50 people attended an information evening about the use of homeopathy at which Mayor Niall O’Brollachain spoke about his personal use of homeopathy for himself and his children.

The Mayor, who is an advocate of homeopathy, told the audience that the only doctors’ bills he has incurred in the last years have been in relation to health checks for his wife during her pregnancies. He believes his use of homeopathy is an example of how it could potentially provide huge cost savings to be tapped into by the HSE
